The presentation explores the subject of race from a leadership perspective. By the end of the presentation, each person will have the opportunity to evaluate why they believe what they believe and how they want to use this new information going forward. The presentation gives the participants tools to begin the process of exploration about the topic of race and other controversial topics that often limit people in the workplace. When there is a void of information people fill that void with their own version of the story which usually is not favorable to the organization. The presentation also ties back to their organizational values as well as their own policies related to interactions between employees as well as interactions with their customers. We also touch on the limits of authority and responsibility that leaders have to enforce standards and define the organization's culture. 

Wes Becton is the Co-founder and CEO of George Washington Street Partners which is an executive leadership, career, and performance coaching and consulting company. Wes is a former Infantry Officer and graduate of the Army’s Ranger School. Wes has extensive executive leadership and governance experience in a wide range of industries including banking, education and healthcare. Wes is the former Board Chair of Northeastern Illinois University and currently serves on the Boards of Elmhurst University and Pan American Bank. Wes earned degrees from George Washington University (BA International Affairs) and Lewis University (MBA Health Care Administration). Wes is a certified professional coach (CPC) and also a member of the International Coach Federation and he is a frequent speaker and lecturer on the topics of leadership and diversity.

This program has been approved for 1 General hour of recertification credit for HRCI and 1 credit for SHRM.
