As the owner of multiple manufacturing firms I pioneered the use of apprenticeships to create a deep talent pool consisting of millennial stars while achieving unusually high retention in diverse disciplines such as engineering, customer service, logistics, and sales. I will discuss reasons why a vibrant internship and apprenticeship program should be a part of your Talent Acquisition Strategy. I will discuss how to create and implement a successful apprentice program and I will share my views on how to attract and retain a millennial workforce.  In this session, you will:

  • understand the role of Apprentice Programs in an overall Talent Acquisition Strategy
  • Identify potential careers paths that can gain from Apprentice Programs
  • Understand basics of creating and maintaining a successful Apprentice Program

About our speaker...Michael O'Connor holds a BBA from the University of Notre Dame: MBA from the University of Chicago.  He is the founder of Innovative Components (Schaumburg, IL) and Componentes Innovadores (Cartago, Costa Rica), manufacturing firms with more than 125 employees combined.  HeI sold the companies in June 2019 to a $1.4 billion multi-national.  Additionally, Michael has taught in the MBA program at the Concordia University of Chicago School of Business, primarily in the areas of Operations Management and Culture Management.
